Wild Ocean 3D 2008 A documentary set in South African waters where the annual sardine run attracts massive marine predators. Billions of sardines migrate along the coast of KwaZulu Natal. Dolphins, sharks, whales, and gannets work together to hunt the huge shoals. Underwater sequences show dolphins herding sardines into bait balls while sharks and birds strike. Bryde’s whales also feed on the schools. Local fishermen depend on the sardine run for their livelihood. This IMAX film highlights predator prey relationships and the economic importance of the event.
