At her father's funeral, she accepts a proposal from Rory, but her daughter Astrid runs away and meets the ghost of Jeremy, who asks for help. Once in the afterlife, Lydia is forced to turn to Beetlejuice, agreeing to marry him. However, his breaking of the rules leads to his disappearance.
